What Does Originality Have to Do with It All?
When it comes to creativity and imagination, it is ordinary that what first comes to one’s mind is a crazy and irreverent creation of a twisted psyche. Being generalized, the paradigm of creativity had spread to a field that could be only explored by a few “gifted” ones with the special ability to pull out the inspiration inside of them, and erect a monument to their own sense of “self.” However, this truth is not as true as can be believed, and originality is more akin to a value that can be learned and developed, rather than a celestial skill that only few are chosen to boast. Certainly, there is a succession of implications that came as a consequence of a clever mind that finds a way to got beyond its horizons. In order to extend such abilities as creativity and originality, a pack of goals should be achieved first: getting to know oneself, comprehend to reflecting “outside the box”, overcoming the fear of being criticized, and learning as much from others as can be learned from oneself. Originality should be a law of life, in order to accomplish success as it allows human kind to create an evolved consciousness.
For one to deeply analyze oneself and to evolve as a person it is usually a hard mêlée to trounce. A quick look to history will present a vast line of thinkers and philosophers who dedicated their lives to the understanding of the profound dimension of existence, life itself and creativity. An impulse is gyrating from one’s head can permeate a passion as strong as fire, is called creativity; nonetheless, the actual capacity to apply that power into something new, following one’s own principles is what originality is made of. To truly get the best of originality, a sensation of self confidence is vital. Overall, for example, artists and creative people seem to be within a stigma of being grumpy and aggressive with their ideas, but that is because there is such fervor and commitment to oneself that sometimes they just cannot help to get upset for any other concept trying to mess up with their conception of aesthetics and beauty. At the end, what possibly counts the most is to be in touch with one’s own ego and to learn how to forget about following social rules “just because”, and rationalize from the basic human instinct.
Paradigms could be broken, and rules can be rewritten if a person dares to get outside the model. A symbolic dialogue in the Movie Bridge to Terabithia (Directed by Gabor Csupo) mentioned, “A wonderful mind could create its own world.” This testimony is the very essence of what “think outside the box” truly represents; in fact, it is a hyperbole that encloses the power of creativity. The authority to find new ways to solve problems and to simplify efforts is a mighty weapon to succeed in life. The human race has a natural tendency to copy, to mirror others behavior and to learn from it, and this is, in fact, the primitive manner in which humans learn to survive and to interact in a fixed world with a solid system. Nevertheless, this attitude of walking somebody else’s steps should be surmounted when one develops the talent to think logically and with one’s own criteria. There are many ways to be competent in this skill. One way to do this is to get involve in arts and to attend to meditation sessions, by developing leadership skills and by sharing ideas with other people; even through there is the risk of being exposed or criticize.
It is also a natural human instinct to be afraid of being exposed to others. Maybe because of the fear of not being good enough or being transparent that one may see right through the deepest, intimate soul which may low down one’s security on oneself. Some people suffer from stage fright or panic in front of others for fear of being vexed. Acting and music are activities that could do an excellent job fighting against these inhibitions, and to overcome the fear of being ridiculed. Everyone is a slave of oneself and as long as the walls of repression keep holding one back, one could never drown one’s awareness into the real essence of one own personality because it is also a rule of life that it is impossible to get to know other people, if one do not really know oneself. Also, this is a two side’s problem, because the reason that some inhibitions persist inside a person is because someone or something has wounded one’s self-confidence. Also, this should be concise because the possibilities of learning from other persons are infinite and almost indispensable in order to grow as a complete human being.
Hence, originality is crucial to evolve and to extend the horizons as inhabitants of this world. Each one is forced to live within a pressuring society that has defined an unchanging set of rules that determine the correct way to behave or to establish relationships. However, the sense of individuality, the courage to follow one’s own identity; and to take advantage of one’s creativity is what craft evolution provides the proper stage to build a better future for a starving humanity that dreams of a hero.
